Facebook Update
So.. I just got a reply to my blog entry from my Vietnamese friend. He assured me that the facebook ban was a hoax and not put out by the Vietnamese government because their website has information stating it is false. And I'm a happy camper once again! Hoorah!!

Erm... if it's a hoax, then why can't I get on Facebook from Vietnam now?
I'm Danish and I live in Vietnam and I've heard from a lot of people the last copuple of days that it started shutting down - in Hanoi yesterday - and this morning it's also blocked in Hai Phong where I live.
I'm very angry about it since I don't have a lot of social contact here and I use it to communicate with friends and family at home (and of course also for the obvious reason that this is a communistic dictatorship-kinda thing to do and it's absolutely outrageous).
Can you still access Facebook?
Tatiana
I have no problems with facebook here in Bien Hoa City, but do yourself some research, be productive, and find a proxy server that can access facebook. Better to be productive and find a way than complain and do nothing about it :) Good luck!
Almost everybody here in Hai Phong and the ones I know in Hanoi are shut out now. I think it depends on your internet provider. Most af the major ones have been ordered by the government to block Facebook.
It's true, no use in complaining and not doing anything. I'm already using proxy's, but it doesn't really work out. I can SEE the webpage, but I can't do anything, like comment and stuff like that.
I think I'm gonna buy myself access to one of those VPN thingies.
Yeah... you're right. You know, you can always change your DNS. Have you tried that? My ISP still hasn't blocked facebook... yet :)
Hi ;)
I just came across your entry about Facebook being blocked in Vietnam. I am in Hanoi have been unable to log onto fb for a several days now. Reading your entry, I'm just wondering if it's really just a hoax then why the media coverage hasn't had any piece of news about this. When Fb first appeared in Vietnam, there were all fussy about the fact ppl were addicted to it; and the with the incident, the media has been ridiculously quiet.
I'm using proxy but can't do anything but see the web page. Pretty sad :)
